Beirut Dinner with Prof. Jeffrey Alexander

On March 20, Yalies in Beirut gathered for dinner with Professor Jeffrey Alexander as he completed his trip to the Middle East. Prof Alexander is the Lillian Chavenson Saden Professor of Sociology at Yale and the Co-Director of the Center for Cultural Sociology (CCS). Prof. Alexander's work is in the areas of theory, culture and politics, and under the auspices of the Center for American Studies and Research at AUB, he delivered a lecture titled: Power and Performance: The "War on Terror" Between the Sacred and the Profane. After the lecture, Yale alumni in Beirut had the chance to speak more intimately with the Professor at a traditional Lebanese mezze meal at the renowned Abdel-Wahab restaurant.
